ExxonMobil Qatar holds blood donation drive for employees in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation

Staff who participated in the drive donated blood at a makeshift blood donation room that was especially set up on the company’s premises by HMC healthcare professionals. The group worked with ExxonMobil Qatar donors through every step of the process to collect donations safely and professionally and ensure their donation was completed successfully. 

“As an active and responsible member of Qatar’s community, it is important to us that we contribute where we can make a positive impact on the society we live in,” said Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar. “We frequently encourage our people to volunteer their time, knowledge and skills to make a difference in their local communities.” 

“Today’s blood donation drive gave our employees a chance to volunteer for something important. Having a blood donation room onsite added to the convenience of participating in this very important activity, and I would like to thank Hamad Medical Corporation for providing us with this setup. A single donation can potentially help more than one patient, and I was very pleased to see so many of our employees taking part in an activity that could help save lives,” he added. 

“The blood donation drive we organized with ExxonMobil Qatar was a huge,” said Ms. Sediqeh al-Mahmoudi, Medical Manager of Hamad Medical Corporation’s Blood Donor Center. “A decision to donate your blood can save a life, or even several - blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person — it is the gift of life.”

HMC is the major health organization sponsoring blood donation initiatives in Qatar. The Blood Donor Centre, run by HMC, is the main center that supervises the donation and transfusion of blood in the country, and is the sole provider of blood to both private and public health care facilities.
