ExxonMobil Qatar presents Education Above All Foundation with educational contribution at Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2018 closing ceremony
The check will help provide educational opportunities to communities around the world that are stricken by poverty or crisis.
Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar, and Mr. Fahad Al-Sulaiti, Chief Executive Officer of EAA, took part in the check presentation that was also attended by His Excellency Nasser Bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi, President of Qatar Tennis Federation, and Andrew P. Swiger, Senior Vice President, Exxon Mobil Corporation.
EAA is one of ExxonMobil Qatar’s key education partners. In 2013, ExxonMobil pledged an $8 million contribution to Educate A Child (EAC) - an initiative of EAA. The four-year contribution is supporting programs in Nigeria; and as education partners, they are exploring potential programs in Papua New Guinea, Angola and Tanzania to help EAA reduce the number of children around the world with no or limited access to education.
“We share Education Above All’s belief that education is the key to progress and prosperity. Education drives economic destiny, and enables people to work together to create strong, skilled and thriving communities,” Routledge said. “The education of one child creates a positive ripple effect, and its impact reaches far beyond the child to influence their family and country. This is why ExxonMobil supports global programs that encourage greater access to education as a critical means of increasing opportunities for social and economic development.”
“We are honored to be part of Education Above All’s noble cause of helping women and children around the world learn lifelong skills that will equip them for the rest of their lives,” added Routledge.
“EAA’s Educate A Child program is proud to partner with ExxonMobil and RISE International in Angola to ensure a further 24,000 out of school children into quality primary education. It is through important multi-sectoral partnerships, such as this, that EAC is able to reach many more of the most marginalized out of school children globally.” Mary Joy Pigozzi, Executive Director, Educate A Child
ExxonMobil partners with local education organizations to ensure that all of Qatar’s children have access to quality education. In a society of the future, education will play an essential role in creating the knowledge-based economy His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani envisions for Qatar.
In line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, ExxonMobil is commitment to advancing education in Qatar – particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The company invests in education and teacher development programs that will contribute to building the skilled and productive workforce Qatar will need for its sustainable future.
